Karen co-facilitated a series of skill sharing workshops in machine sewing as part of the 'Finery' project for Brisbane City Council's Creative Communities program.

The workshops focused on cutting material, sewing machine skills and basic pattern knowledge.

On Friday’s St Brendan’s School provided childcare, English classes, skill development and a space to connect with each other.

This project was initiated by a teacher at St Brendan's Primary School after it became clear some women were isolated and without support. Most of the women have children at St Brendan's School and are refugees from Sudan and Burundi who have settled in the area.
